Float On Hong Kong was co-Founded in 2016 by my husband and I as the first float therapy centre to the Kong-crete jungle. Located in the heart of the city, Float On is a sanctuary with four Dreampods and a large lounge area for relaxing after your float with a cup of tea, journal and maybe even colour.
While I have been working in the health and wellness industry since 2011 and my husband was working the night shifts in food and beverage, we both saw the same clients. People were stressed from work and either practiced yoga to release it, drank a lot of alcohol and sometimes they did both. Our mission at Float On Hong Kong is to help people relax and unwind using the float pod as a tool. There is no other environment where you can fully shut off from outside vibrations of lights, sounds and technology constantly in your face.
Dreampods are filled with 500kg of epsom salts, also known as magnesium sulfate, allowing for a near zero gravity environment. The water is kept at your surface skin temperature (about 34.5degrees). In the pod, you are in control of your experience with
light buttons to keep the lights on or off and you can even keep the pod lid open, closed or slightly open.
Every room has it’s own shower for your comfort and privacy while you are floating. There is also a separate powder room with any amenities you may need from contact solution, tampons and a hair dryer.
Modest Mouse was my life soundtrack of 2006 before moving to Hong Kong from Canada. In March 2008 I was running an event at Solas Bar where Ciaran managed and the first song he put on that morning while we were setting up was The Good Times by Modest Mouse! Well it sparked a conversation that has lead us to where we are today and we chose the name Float On (Hong Kong) after the Modest Mouse song.
